The Family that “Prays Together” ………

October 8th, 2008 · No Comments

We all know the rest of the phrase. Even some of us may Google it to find the origin or even search the Scriptures looking for the passage ……

The saying was invented by Al Scalpone, a professional commercial-writer, and was used as the slogan of the Roman Catholic Family Rosary Crusade by Father Patrick Peyton. The crusade began in 1942 and the slogan was apparently first broadcast on March 6, 1947 during the radio program, Family Theater of the Air. The Crusade started in Britain in 1952.

Wow,  Al Scalpone really heard God ….  It is one of the most profound and true phrases of our time. Furthermore it is really needed today more than ever. I rarely watch Daytime Tele, but I decided to watch Family Court. A 17 year old was suing her father after he left his family six months ago for a 25 year old woman. The testimony was devastating and wielded a crushing blow to the young woman who idealized her father and felt betrayed. This is just one of many scenarios facing the modern day family.

Adultery, drugs, teen age pregnancy and drinking are only a few challenges on the list. They all are designed to take God’s design of “The Family” out of commission and reeling into to divorce, despair, homelessness and worse. I know all to well, I have experienced it first hand.

Just something as simple as a prayer was the hardest thing for me to get as a Christian Husband, Father, Businessman and Minister of the Gospel. I was always too busy, in a hurry or felt is was corny. Prayer is the covering, safety and protection that God’s offers us, almost as an Insurance Plan and it’s free.

This blog is short but the subject is not always sweet. Pray Daily before your feet touch the carpet. Hold your wife’s hand, lift up the day to your Heavenly Father. If you have children pray before they leave together as a family unit before they leave for school etc ….

As in the previous post pray, walk in integrity, pay tithes and offerings and you are good. Really good, no worries …… it is that simple. Take God with you during your day, he wants to hang out and have fun too. Don’t leave Him in the car, outside in the rain or at home when you leave for the day.

To be continued ……….
